Someone posts (or used to post) on TexAgs that was a traffic engineer. He once discussed the tradeoffs of 4-way stops vs roundabouts vs traffic lights, etc. Each has its place, depending on the volume of traffic. He also discssed how the length of the backed up lane(s) of traffic grows when the maximum traffic load for each is exceeded.
Not saying what's right or wrong for Potranco, but I do hope they're doing objective and realistic analysis/modeling in order to be certain they won't create a nightmare. Somehow I'm not confident they'll get it right. Glad I don't live anywhere near there.
