Florida's 2 freshmen pitchers are legit. Would have loved to see Ava Brown stay at home but that was too far down the road when Ford arrived

Hoping Ava Brown comes home after a year in Florida.

Oh, she's the other one besides Rothrock! Following Falby & Walton, I'll add the 2 fresh.

Nice work by the pitching staff this whole series. South Carolina isn't an offensive powerhouse by any stretch but watching all three games you just got the feeling that the Aggies were in control the entire time other than the 2nd inning yesterday. Defense was excellent, Powell has really settled into the hot corner nicely.
Offense was… not great. This was partly due to Carolina's pitching staff, which is very, very good. That was easily the best staff we've faced all season. On the positive side, we didn't really strike out much, we worked the counts pretty well and got walks when we couldn't hit.
I can't stand this South Carolina squad, they like to talk a ton of crap. Today their third base coach got into it with some of our fans, including dropping an F bomb that I could hear all the way where I was sitting. It was a prolonged ordeal and Heffley had to come out of our dugout to try and diffuse the situation when the officials just stood there watching it with their thumbs up their butts. Was nice to send them home as losers.

Good overview of the series. We are going to need more hits as we go through SEC play.

Vestal was spectacular this weekend. I thought she would be an important piece to the puzzle this year. If we can get that from her this pitching staff will be tough to score on. Happy to see Shay throwing in the pen today. Hopefully she is available next weekend.
Still not sure about Harper. She was in uniform but stayed in the bullpen not the dugout this weekend. Her bat has been good. Will need her to back to form soon. Fortunately defensively we options this year

That sounds likely. just odd no other injured players don't come to the dugout. Maybe staff if just concealing what is wrong by keeping her out of view

I don't know all the particulars but I don't expect Harper to be out for an extended time.
The really good thing I saw today was Shaylee Ackerman throwing in the pen to start the game. I'd love to see her back in the circle.

Only Aggie related because we head to Miss St next weekend. Ole Miss walks it off in extras against Miss St 10-9

Have we ever had a SEC series where we gave up only 2 runs? And it was over 24 innings, not 21.

Auburn 2018 is the last time I found. Pretty impressive
If I looked through the record book correctly that is the only other time

With the sweep, the Aggies have moved up to 13th in the RPI. This is a good place to be now because it puts us in position to host a regional. We have a ton of games against teams with top 30 RPI left on the schedule so there's even more room to move into the national seed conversation. Hosting a regional would be my (not unreasonable) expectation for this program in year 2. Going forward as a program into next year and beyond we should always be in that national seed conversation and hosting regionals should be fairly routine.

The games this weekend were great. The pitching, save one inning, was outstanding. Aiyana did a great job as DP on Saturday and Sunday. We need to get Amari back though.

Today begins our first conference road series at Mississippi State in Starkville. If I'm not mistaken this will be the first true road test of the season, unless you count playing Fullerton in their home stadium in that tournament.

This is probably the closest matchup we have had so far, stat-wise. They're just a bit better than us at the plate, and we're a bit better in the circle. MSU doesn't have the same power in their lineup that A&M does, with less HR and doubles as a team, but everything I see says this should be a close series. This series is the "easiest" road series Texas A&M will have and it will really go a long way for the Aggies' hosting efforts to come away with a series win. The goal should be for A&M to go 2-2 in the 4 road conference series. I think it's going to be difficult but doable.
Mississippi State 20-4 (2-1) #17 RPI
Batting avg - .358
OB% - .458
HR - 24
2B - 36

SO - 129

Texas A&M 23-2 (3-0) #13 RPI

2B - 40
Team ERA - 1.38

2 things jumped at me when I looked at Miss St.
They have good a average but lack in HR. I may overvalue that but it is hard to string hits together in the league.
The other thing was their fielding percentage. Dead last by decent margin. That will get you beat. We know all too well how it works out when your defense is shaky.
Really need to win this series
