If you want the latest news, forget KBTX. Follow Rusty Surette on X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook. I don't even mess with KBTX anymore.

So KBTX has no new info and just recycled a story from 2019?

Popstroke location according to TAMU Transportation's construction map. It says construction begins in December of this year which seems a bit far off...

They had originally said construction was going to start in late 2023. I also thought it was going to be more on the corner of University. I think that is good so that corner can still be further developed with Century Square growth. I am still holding out hope for a Trader Joes there!

The city approved abandoning easements through the Nova Northgate property.

Roni's Mac Bar is going in the Aspire building.
Of note that they are in the food hall in Waco. The people behind that food hall are the ones that announced the plan to put one in the old Sears warehouse near the mall. I believe Roni's was one of the places expected to go there. Makes me wonder about the status of the food hall.

I think Bryan Ave and 21st in downtown would be where I would put a food hall if I were the developer.

Saw an article a few weeks ago about Food Hall's closing and not being the thing they were a year or so ago. I doubt the Sears building one ever happens ….

I am thinking the same.
Regarding Roni's, I am not sure what they plan for their hours, but it would seem like smart business to be open late at least on Friday and Saturday for the post bar wanting carbs crowd.

That said, time to update their sign to "Now Open! Second location...."
That's the reason I didn't know about this I guess ... I always go through the drivethru. Daughter went into the store today and saw the sign.maroon barchetta said:

Per their Facebook page, The Village in Downtown Bryan is not reopening. They are having a "farewell party" on January 26th, but won't be open before or after.

The Village that forced Downtown Uncorked to move (to South College Station) so that they could expand? Wow!

I'm not on the inner circle of these things, but I'm certain it didn't work this way. Uncorked moved to CS voluntarily.
FYI, AFAIK, Vino Boheme (the old uncorked space) will remain open.

This property just listed for sale by Oldham Goodwin was going to be the location of the food hall, so safe to say that project is dead.

Most important- figure out who was the "brains" behind the food hall deal. Almost certainly they were not in the business in 2008. I'd avoid any deal they prompt now and for 4 years. They clearly have no insight on what works in a neutral to down market!
