Time to kick off Open week. Personally, I rank the Open Championship as 2nd only to the Masters, and I know that I am not alone in that sentiment.

Who else is waking up early Thursday/Friday to get some pre-work or class viewing in?

Thoughts as we head into the year's 3rd major?

Two things make the Open Championship great:
1) When the coverage is over, I still have a large portion of the day to get stuff done. I'm an early riser so 4 am to watch a little golf isn't too bad.

Decent chance I'll wake up early to watch.

Who do y'all think will play well? Justin Rose is hot right now. I actually think Tiger will hit it ok but his short game is the question. If he can scramble, I think he can contend, but after seeing him a couple weeks ago, I don't know if he can.

I could see McDowell or Fowler contending.

Should be a great tournament, can't wait to watch it. With Kaymer and Rose playing lights out lately you'd have to think one of those two will win, but it could just as easily be someone out of the blue. That said, I think the winner comes from this group of 5...Kaymer, Rose, Adam Scott, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy. Dark horses: Jimenez and Cabrera. Don't be surprised if Phil and Tiger are in the mix.

I'm up early anyway. "Morning Drive" is what got me hooked on watching golf. I got sick of watching Mike & Mike and the ridiculous news shows on the treadmill.

I'll take Steve Williams, er, Adam Scott to get the jug. Every time I pick a guy to win because he's got momentum, it puts the kibosh on him.

I will be getting up early, or staying up late rather.

Ill go with Mcilroy if the weather is decent. If it gets ugly, wet, windy, etc...ill go with some American with no majors to his name.

Morning Drive is a way better morning show. I got sick of the other ones as well for the most part. During school I really liked the Dan Patrick show...but I just don't get to listen to it anymore because they broadcast 9am-noon CST.

I'll be keeping my eye on Rhein Gibson. He's the guy that shot a 55 in Edmond, OK a couple of years ago. Qualified by placing 4th in the Australian Open. Really nice guy who is playing great golf right now.

I love the Masters. But I believe I enjoy watching The Open almost as much. Because it is different. Links course, the heather rough, deep bunkers and mostly the weather. I for some reason enjoy seeing players in jackets and cold weather gear while it is 100 degrees here in Texas.

From what I saw earlier today:

Adam Scott: 12/1
Rory McIlroy: 15/1
Tiger Woods: 15/1

Was surprised by the Tiger odds as well...still surprised with them even at 20/1.

Just a hunch, but 25/1 seems a good breakeven point for Tiger's chances to me.

you shouldn't be. bookies have been making an absolute killing on Tiger over the years. there's just so many dumb people that will bet on him even when you are getting terrible odds.

Like the Open the best of all the majors due to the history.

Fowler might have one of the better chances from the USA side. Going with a foreigner, Harrington, McDowell, or even Cabrera in some nasty weather.

You need a good ground game in The Open Championship , I look for Francisco Molinari to compete strong and Pablo Larazabal as a longshot.
Americans Shawn Stefani and Chris Stroud will surprise the field as well .
Zach Johnson wins , Molinari 2nd , Rose 3rd
